### What does self-attestation mean?

It means you write Self-Attested or True Copy on a photocopy, sign it and add the date, to say the copy matches the original. You are attesting your own photocopy — it is not an affidavit and not a notary stamp.

### When is a notary or gazetted officer still required?

When the form or notice says notarised, attested by a gazetted officer, sworn affidavit, or attested copy. Many job and admission photocopies accept self-attestation; court, embassy and property packets often do not. Read that line on your form — this stamp does not replace them.

### How do I place the cross-signature on a photo?

Sign so the ink runs from the photograph onto the paper, so the photo cannot be swapped. Choose Cross-signature on photo, then drag the stamp onto the photo's edge. On a cropped passport photo with no paper around it, place the stamp across the lower-right of the photo itself.
