How to prepare
- Recent colour passport-style photo; no caps, hats or dark glasses.
- Coloured, busy or edited backgrounds get photos rejected.
- Beautified, filtered or AI-generated photos fail the portal photo check.
- The photograph must be taken on or after 30 January 2024 (this notification's date); an older photo is not accepted for this application.
- Frontal view showing both ears and part of the neck, against a white background, taken in a photo studio.
- Print the candidate's name and the date of photography at the bottom of the photograph itself — use the "Print name & date" strip below to do this.
- For a fresh One Time Registration (OTR) profile, TNPSC separately asks for a photo taken within the last 3 months; keep both rules in mind if you register and apply the same day.

How to prepare
- Draw a 6.0 cm x 2.0 cm box on plain white paper and sign inside it using a blue or black ink pen.
- Scan only the box with the signature inside it; do not upload the full sheet of paper.
- Keep this signature consistent going forward; TNPSC checks it later against your signature at later stages.
About TNPSC Group 4
TNPSC Group 4 (Combined Civil Services Examination-IV, Group-IV Services) is Tamil Nadu's largest-volume state recruitment exam, covering posts including Village Administrative Officer (VAO), applied for through the tnpscexams.in One Time Registration (OTR) system. The latest official CCSE-IV Notification No. 1/2024 sets a photograph and a signature upload, and requires the candidate's name and photography date printed on the photograph itself. TNPSC has not yet published a notification for the next CCSE-IV cycle.

Section 3.3 requires a colour, passport-size photograph, frontal view showing both ears and part of the neck, against a white background, taken in a photo studio, with the candidate's name and date of photography printed at the bottom. Height 4.5 cm (170 pixels), width 3.5 cm (130 pixels); of that height, the candidate's image is 3.0 cm (115 pixels) and the printed name/date band is 1.5 cm (55 pixels). Section 3.4 (the print-and-scan path for a photo not already digital) is where the notification's only KB figure appears: cropped and saved as JPG, 20 KB to 50 KB. Both sections are on raw PDF page 29 (printed footer 'Page 29 of 74').
