PAN card photo resize for NSDL and UTIITSL

Resize your photo for the PAN card form. NSDL (Protean) crops to 3.5 x 2.5 cm and stays under 50 KB. Switch to UTIITSL for 213 x 213 pixels, under 30 KB.

How it works

  1. Upload your photo

Add a recent colour photo on a plain light background.

  2. Pick NSDL/Protean or UTIITSL

The NSDL preset is loaded by default (3.5 x 2.5 cm, up to 50 KB). Applying on UTIITSL? Switch presets for the exact 213 x 213 px, under-30 KB rule.

  3. Crop to the official frame

Crop your face into the locked frame. The tool writes the required DPI into the JPG — 200 DPI for NSDL, 300 DPI for UTIITSL.

  4. Check and download

Confirm pixels, KB limit and a real JPG, then download the file and upload it on the PAN portal. Prepare the signature next — both files go on the same form.

Questions

What photo size does the NSDL (Protean) PAN application need?

It depends on the mode. The online eSign scanned-images upload (new 49A and correction/reprint) takes a .jpg only, 3.5 x 2.5 cm, maximum 50 KB. DSC-based applications take a colour JPEG at 200 DPI, 3.5 x 2.5 cm, maximum 20 KB. This page's NSDL preset crops to 3.5 x 2.5 cm and compresses under 50 KB — use the 20 quick setting for a DSC application.

What is the UTI PAN photo size (213 x 213)?

UTIITSL's scanning guidelines ask for a colour photo scanned at 300 DPI, exactly 213 x 213 pixels, under 30 KB, in JPEG format — and the pixel size is enforced exactly, so 212 or 214 px fails. This page locks the NSDL 3.5 x 2.5 cm frame. For UTIITSL, type 213 x 213 in Advanced and set the limit to 30 KB.

PAN card photo resize kaise kare?

Photo upload karo, 3.5 x 2.5 cm frame mein crop karo, phir download karo. NSDL ke liye JPG 50 KB ke andar rehti hai. UTIITSL ke 213 x 213 square ke liye Advanced mein woh pixels type karo aur limit 30 KB rakho. File browser me hi banti hai — photo kahin upload nahi hoti.

How do I fix the 'Photo Dimension should be 3.5X2.5 cms' error?

The NSDL portal shows this when your photo's proportions or DPI metadata do not match 3.5 x 2.5 cm. Fix: upload the photo here with the NSDL preset — the crop locks to the 3.5 x 2.5 cm shape (about 197 x 276 pixels) and 200 DPI is written into the JPG — then download and upload that file.

Does the Instant e-PAN need a photo upload?

No. Instant e-PAN on incometax.gov.in has no photo, signature or document upload at all — it is Aadhaar-OTP e-KYC, your Aadhaar photo is used, and it is free. Only Protean's scanned-images (eSign) mode and UTIITSL's upload flow take a photo file from you.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. Your photo stays in the browser on this page. Nothing is uploaded.
