Can I change my Aadhaar card photo by uploading a new one online?
No. UIDAI treats the photograph as a biometric — its FAQ says 'For Biometrics updates, you need to visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre' — so the photo on the card is captured live at the Aadhaar Seva Kendra, and no online upload changes it. What this page makes is the 35 x 45 mm Aadhaar-style photo for UIDAI's certificate proforma and for portals that do take a photo upload.
What is the official Aadhaar photo size?
The one photo size UIDAI publishes is on its Certificate for Aadhaar Enrolment/Update proforma, inside the List of Supporting Documents PDF: a recent colour passport-size photograph, 3.5 x 4.5 cm (35 x 45 mm), cross-signed by the certifier. At 300 DPI that frame is 413 x 531 pixels — derived, not separately published. UIDAI publishes no pixel-and-KB spec for a self-upload, because there is no self-upload.
Is the Aadhaar photo limit 50 KB or 140 x 180 pixels?
We could not find any official UIDAI source for those numbers. Many resizer sites attribute '50 KB' and '140 x 180 pixels' to UIDAI, but no UIDAI FAQ or document we checked publishes either figure. The default here is that common 50 KB form window — change it to the exact limit printed on the form you are filling.

Where is an Aadhaar-style photo actually needed?
On UIDAI's own paperwork, only the Certificate for Aadhaar Enrolment/Update proforma asks for a pasted 35 x 45 mm print — used when someone applies without standard documents. Beyond UIDAI, many bank, KYC and state-portal forms ask for an 'Aadhaar-style' or passport-size photo upload with their own KB limits; use the limit printed on that form, and switch to the exam's official preset when your form names an exam we cover.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. Your photo stays in the browser on this page. Nothing is uploaded — and nothing is sent to UIDAI either; no online tool can change the photo on your Aadhaar card.
